Using
the Internet Setup Assistant with Mac OS 8.5-8.6
- In
your hard drive, open the folder labeled
Assistants.
- Double
click the icon labeled Internet Setup
Assistant
- Click
on the button labeled Update
- Click
the right arrow in the lower right corner
of the Introduction window.
- Select
the button next to Add Internet configuration
and click the right arrow.
- In
the box, enter niinet.net (or whatever you
want) as the name of this configuration.
- Select
Modem, then click the right arrow
to continue.
- Type
in a Local Access Phone Number, then your
username (login ID) and password.
- Does
your ISP require a PPP Script? Select No
and click the right arrow to continue.
- Is
ther an IP Address for this Configuration?
Select No and click the right arrow
to continue.
- For
Domain Name Servers, type 63.210.138.8
then press the Enter key. Type 63.210.138.7
and press the Enter key.
- Tab
into Domain Name (or Host Name) and
type niinet.net in small case letters. Click
the right arrow to continue.
- For
mail account, type username@niinet.net.
An example: If your username were "slowjoe8",
you would type slowjoe8@niinet.net.
- Type
mail.niinet.net for the SMTP. Click the
right arrow to continue.
- Type
in the email address (i.e. slowjoe8@niinet.net)
and your password.
- There
is no NNTP, click the right arrow to continue
- Select
No for Do you use proxy servers?
Click the right arrow
- Uncheck
Connect When Finished, then clidk
the Go Ahead button
- Close
all windows.
- Open
up PPP or Remote Access in
Control Panels under the Apple menu.
