Internet Dial-up Setup for Windows XP

  • Click on Start
  • Select All Programs
  • Select Accessories
  • Select Communications
  • Select New Connection Wizard
  • Click Next
  • Choose the option Connect to the Internet
  • Click Next
  • Choose the option Setup my connection manually
  • Click Next
  • Choose the option Connect using a dial-up modem
  • Click Next
  • Type niinet.net in the ISP name field
  • Click Next
  • Type the phone number for the niinet.net dialup in your area.
  • Click Next
  • If this computer is used for multiple users, determine if you will make the connection available to all users, or just the current user. The default selection is Anyone’s use.
  • Click Next
  • Enter your username and password in the fields, exactly as it appears in your welcome kit.
  • Check the option Make this the default internet connection.
  • Uncheck the option Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection.
  • Click Next
  • Select the option Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop
  • Click Finish

To setup your email account, refer to the Outlook Express instructions.

  • Open Outlook Express
  • Select Tools
  • Select Accounts
  • Click the Mail tab
  • Click the Add button and choose Mail
  • In the Internet Connection Wizard:
  • Enter your name in the Display name field. This can be anything you like. Type it in as you would like it to appear.
  • Click Next
  • Enter your email address in the E-mail address field (username@niinet.net).
  • Click Next
  • Select POP3 as the incoming mail server.
  • Enter mail.niinet.net in the Incoming mail(POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field.
  • Enter mail.niinet.net in the outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
  • Click Next
