Internet
Dial-up Setup for Windows 2000
Double-click
on the "Connect to the Internet" icon. If
this icon is not on your desktop:
- Click
on Start
- Select
Programs
- Select
Accessories
- Select
Communications
- Select
Internet Connection Wizard
On
the Welcome screen, select I want
to set up my Internet connection manually
then click on Next.
Select
I connect through a phone line and a modem
and click on Next.
Click
on the Advanced button, then on the
Addresses tab.
On
IP Address, select Internet service
provider automatically provides one.
Under
DNS server address, select
Click
on OK
Enter
the phone number for the niinet.net
dialup number in your area. Make sure that
Use area code and dialing rules is
NOT selected.

If you don’t find your local number here,
please call our Customer Service department
at 800-897-2448 for assistance.
If
you are in an area that uses 10-digit local
dialing, leave the area code field blank and
enter all 10 digits in the phone number field.
Enter
your login name as it appears on your
welcome kit. Enter your password exactly
as it appears in your welcome kit. Click on
Next.
Enter
niinet.net as the connection name.
Click on Next.
You
will now be asked if you want to continue
setting up an Internet Mail account. If you
have no preference in web browsers, we recommend
that you select Yes, then click on
Next to continue setup of Microsoft
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
If
you do NOT want to use Microsoft Internet
Explorer as your web browser and email program,
select No and click on Next.
Once
you are in the Internet Connection Wizard:
- Click
on Create a new Internet mail account,
then click Next.
- Type
your name in the Display Name field,
then click Next.
- Enter
you full email address (username@niinet.net)
in the E-mail address field, then
click Next.
- Make
sure POP3 is selected under My incoming
mail server is.
- Enter
mail.niinet.net in the Incoming
mail (POP3 or IMAP) server field.
- Enter
mail.niinet.net in the Outgoing
mail (SMTP) server.
- Enter
your username in the Account name field,
then enter your password in the Password
field. Select Remember password if
you do not want to be prompted for your
password each time you check your mail.
Click on Next.
- Click
Finish.
