Dialup Setup for Mac OS X
- From
the Apple menu, choose System
Preferences.
- Click
the Network icon.
- Click
the arrow box on the Show pop-up
list and select Internal Modem.
- Click
on the TCP/IP tab.
- Click
the arrow box on the Configure pop-up
list and choose Using PPP.
- In
the Domain Name Servers box, leave
this blank. Niinet.net will set your DNS
information when you connect.
- Leave
the Search Domains box blank.
- Click
on the PPP tab.
- In
the Telephone Number field, enter
you local dialup access number. A complete
list of niinet.net dialup numbers can be
found here.
If you don’t find your local number here,
please call our Customer Service department
at 800-897-2448 for assistance. If you are
in an area that uses 10-digit local dialing,
make sure to include the area code.
- In
the Account Name field, enter your
email address (username@niinet.net).
- In
the Password field, enter your password.
Check the box next to Save Password
if you do not want to enter your password
each time you check your email.
- Click
the PPP Options button.
- Check
the box next to Connect automatically
when starting TCP/IP applications.
- Uncheck
the box next to Prompt to stay connected.
- Uncheck
the box next to Disconnect if idle.
- Check
the box next to Disconnect when user
logs out.
- Click
the OK button.
- Click
on the Proxies tab.
- Uncheck
all the boxes.
- Click
on the Modem tab.
- Click
the Modem pop-up list and choose Apple
Internal 56K Modem (v.90).
- Click
the Tone radio button in the Dialing
area.
- Check
the box next to Show modem status in
menu bar.
- Click
the Apply Now button.
- Close
the Network window.
