E-Mail Scanning/Viruses
The
most common mode for computer virus transmission
today is by the use of Internet email file attachments.
This proliferation of computer viruses is expected
to continue into the near future.
niinet.net
does not typically scan email file attachments for
virus signatures, including suspected files. The
responsibility for the detection and proper elimination
of computer viruses rests solely with the user/owner/operator
of any computer using niinet.net’s Internet services.
However,
niinet.net is under no obligation whatsoever to
allow the transmission of any demonstrably harmful
content, material or other such "entities"
across its network. All user Internet usage, including
email messages, must comply with niinet.net’s Email
Abuse Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
Given
that there are over 51,000 known viruses, there
is no way that any ISP can possibly provide detailed
technical assistance for any specific virus "infection".
Please consult the anti-virus experts such as McAfee
(www.mcafee.com)
or Norton Anti-Virus (www.symantec.com/nav/index.html).
If
You Are Infected
If
you are notified that your computer is spreading
a virus via email attachments, or if you believe
that your computer is infected with a computer virus,
you MUST immediately disconnect the infected computer
from the Internet. Do NOT connect this computer
to the Internet until you have completed the appropriate
virus removal/cleaning process and installed an
updated anti-virus program.
Failure
to remove the infected computer, and continuing
to spread a virus, is considered in violation of
this policy, the Email Abuse Policy, and the Acceptable
Use Policy. Violations of any of these policies
may result in suspension or termination of your
account.
Reporting
Violations
Please
send reports of any activity in violation of this
policy to abuse@niinet.net
