Customer Information for Transferring Domain Names to niinet.net Servers

When changing ISPs, or Web Hosting Providers, it is necessary to update your domain name registration record to reflect the information for your new name servers.Not taking this critical step could cause your domain name to be inaccessible via the Internet.We recommend that you allow for a period of "overlap" between the dates that your old name servers expire and your new name servers become active, so you do not lose visibility on the Internet.

At the customer’s request, and upon completion of the Domain Hosting Form, NII Communications staff will initiate the domain transfer process.Once the request is initiated, the registered Administrative Contact/Agent, the registered Technical Contact/Agent, and the registered Billing Contact/Agent will all receive an email to the email address on record, requesting approval of changes for your domain. It is important that you, the legal owner of the domain, acknowledge that you do indeed desire to make the requested changes.  Because of this, it is also important that you keep your contact information updated with the registrar to ensure.  There are alternative actions that can be used when a contact does not acknowledge the request; however, not replying and acknowledging this email correctly will delay the domain transfer process.  This seemingly stringent process is necessary to protect the rights of all domain name registrants.

The domain transfer process normally takes anywhere from 24-72 hours. Transfers requiring additional interaction with the domain registrar will take longer.  When the transfer is complete, NII will provide you with the necessary information to upload your web site files to your new web server.
